Happy mother's day to all the muthas, and to anyone who dreams of becoming one. It never ceases to amaze me how quickly my own dreams of motherhood morphed into reality, how totally my life was transformed by these two tiny people. And I remember, again and again, that prayers are meant to be prayed, wishes are meant to be wished for...because how else can they be answered?
On this mother's day, this busy working mom gave herself, her husband and the world at large a gift by taking fifteen minutes to wax her facial hair. I'm sure you will all thank her, er...me. (Hashtag I'm 1/4 Portuguese and sometimes I get a fu manchu, wanna make somethin' outta it?)
In any case, I'm so very thankful for my babies, for my own mother and for the women who have been mentors to me in this lifetime. I believe being a mother to my two lovebugs was written on my soul long before I came to this earth, and I'm just so glad they're here, so grateful that we're all finally together.
Here's a nice article on motherhood by Gabrielle Bernstein for all my fellow hippie mamas out there. Happy Mother's Day. And if you are missing your own mom today, just know that the bonds of motherhood are incredibly strong; I don't believe they can ever be broken. Mama love is transcendent, it never stops flowing, and it's my guess she is still closer to you than you think. Hugs to you all, love the OB xoxo
