Our television set has kicked the bucket. Admittedly, it's been on the fritz for quite some time, and lately whenever we turn it on the poor thing emits the most foul, ghastly of sounds. But we never actually thought it would stop working on us! (The DVR is devastated. It's been drinking heavily since midday.)
Our friend Mike sold us this TV a year and a half ago, and I was against it from the beginning. I didn't want it; resented it, even. We already had a perfectly fine television set, and anyway, what was the fuss about a flat screen? But Reader...I fell in love. That television set and I whiled away many happy hours together.
I recently met a girl who doesn't keep a TV in her apartment. She says a lot of people find this weird. I didn't judge, but immediately I knew her choice wasn't for me. It could never be for me. Not as long as there are demented Osborne Family Variety Shows to watch, and self destructive patients for Dr. Drew to treat, and copious amounts of butter for Paula Dean to cook with, and warmie Masterpiece Classics being filmed. No, a life without television is like a night without a day. And now it is gone.
The dilemma is, where do we go from here? We've gotten used to 46 inches of high definition! I can't go back, I tell ya, I can't!

HAHA, at first glance I thought you wrote "Dr. Phil". I was gonna rip you for indulging in such nonsense. I actually don't have cable any longer since i can pretty much watch the shows I want on hulu.com.

I can't watch Dr. Phil anymore. I think he's gone off the deep end.

Thanks Tam! xoxo But I think we're just going to buy another one. We're pretty much addicted to flat HD now. (Which is why I didn't want one in the first place!) Hubby actually took apart the TV last night and tried to repair it! It didn't work. And there are a couple of screws left over that he couldn't put back, apparently.
This morning I woke up, got my coffee, and Kittie and me went into the living room to watch Food Network except...the TV doesn't work!! I keep forgetting...
