It happened in a split second; and yet it will be savored as my very own extra special moment of the week. I was folding clothes at the laundromat and listening in amusement as the woman behind the counter playfully chastised a young college student for not knowing how to do laundry. "I'm calling your mother!" she teased, and I decided to join in, jokingly assuring him "don't worry, you'll learn."
When his wash cycle was finished he approached me and asked if I had any extra, you know, those square white thingy-s that go in the...
"Dryer sheets? Sure, how many do you need?"
Once his laundry was twirling away in the dryer he turned to me with a friendly face and asked me a question so precious, so sweet smelling and wondrous that I'm compelled to store it away in the hollows of my little old heart:
"So...do you go to school around here?"
Reader, it was all I could do to not throw my arms around this kind soul and cry out, GOD BLESS YOU CHILD!! But I decided to play it cool: "I did go to school around here, a long time ago. (As in, um, eight years? But who's counting?) Do you go to school around here?"
He did. He told me about his major, and what he was studying. I told him about Hubby, and what he was studying. When he turned to leave he said, "well, see ya around!"
Thanks kid. You really made this broad's day.

Stop acting as if you are an eighty year old woman, please. You are almost thiry years old, hardly over the hill. And I am not just saying that because I am thirty-three. Thirty is the new twenty.
