Tonight. Fenway Park. Mr. Neil Diamond.
Since we now basically reside behind the right field wall of Fenway, Hubby and I could hear them doing the sound check. (Cherry, Cherry). Naturally, I've been singing it uncontrollably ever since. (Baby loves me...yes, yes she does!)
I've since moved on to Sweet Caroline. A most natural Diamond progression, wouldn't you agree?
The concert is in progress now as I type. Hubby, Kittie and I are sitting in our living room being bedazzled by the groovy tunes wafting through the windows.
While we're on the subject, I was never familiar with some of Neil's more nonsensical songs until Hubby clued me in one day. (For some reason he has Neil Diamond's Greatest Hits on his I-Tunes.) Case in point: Porcupine Pie. Have you ever heard this wacky tune? The lyrics are as follows:
Porcupine pie, porcupine pie, porcupine pie
Vanilla soup, a double scoop please
No, maybe I want, maybe I won't, maybe I will
The tutti fruit
With fruity blue cheese
Ah, but porcupine pie,
Porcupine pie, porcupine pie
Don't let it get on your jeans
And though it sounds a little strange
But you got to eat it with gloves
Or your hands will turn green
[Instrumental]
Ah, but porcupine pie,
Porcupine pie, porcupine pie
It weaves its way through my dreams
And I do believe
I'm gonna get one
And leave enough room for dessert
Chicken ripple ice cream
It's a catchy little number, there's no denying it; but it makes my husband take pause. Perhaps Mr. Diamond will perform it tonight. And if he does, you know I will be singing along.
And with that, I must leave you. Neil is bidding me to join him in song, and I simply cannot resist...
Kentucky woman
If she get to know you
She goin to own you
Kentucky woman!!
xoxo
PS- I heard someone mention Bon Jovi might play Fenway. Please Lord, oh please let this not be a lie. That is all.

Porcuppine Pie sounds a bit like a Raffi song. I love Raffi!!

I think you would really like Porcupine Pie, actually. It's right up your alley. Very catchy. Auntie will sing it to you. xoxo

There is a curious amount of Neil Diamond advertisments on the blog now. It's like the blog is alive!
