I've long considered The Golden Girls to be the quintessential comfort show; brimming with cheesecake, wisecracks and plenty of post menopausal sexual innuendo. I enjoy the way everyone always seems to be wearing heels, even while relaxing on the veranda. In short, if the GG's are on, this broad won't change the channel. Indeed, the ladies from Miami even played an integral part in relaxing me on the morning of my nuptials. (It was the episode in which a young George Clooney guest stars as a cop. Dorothy falls for his partner and says she is "crazy wild about this guy!!!!"...a classic. Sissy and I laughed so hard we had to rewind it.)
I was saddened to learn of the death of Estelle Getty yesterday. She'll no doubt continue to make people happy long after her passing. Here's to you, Sophia Petrillo. xoxo

Of course the Sicilian was the funniest one...
Sophia: There's just something I don't like about him. I can't put my finger on it, but if I did, I would wash it.
***********************************************************
Dorothy: Rose, Rose, honey, sit down sweetheart, tell us all about it. Ma, would you get Rose some water?
Sophia: What is she going to do with water? Has water ever made you feel better when you were upset? Have you ever heard anyone say: 'Thank God, the water's here'? Call me when dinner is ready.
***********************************************************
Sophia: I slept with my two brothers until I was seventeen. I was engaged to one for a very short period of time, but that's a separate story.
***********************************************************
Dorothy: Ma, did you sleep with that man?
Sophia: A little...
***********************************************************
Rose: Sophia, why are you in such a bad mood?
Sophia: Excuse me Rose, but I haven't had sex in fifteen years and its starting to get on my nerves.
***********************************************************
Blanche: I have writer's block. It's the worst feeling in the world.
Sophia: Try ten days without a bowel movement sometime.
