I realize that for many of us, Monday mornings aren't the stuff that dreams are made of. I think the Bangles truly said it best back in '86: I wish it were Sunday (Oh, woo oh) that's my fun day (Oh, woo oh woh) my I don't have to run day...it's just another manic Monday...
Fun fact: did you know that Prince actually wrote that song? I find it comforting to know that even Prince has trouble motivating himself on Monday mornings! (I imagine it must be significantly easier to be funky come the weekends.)
Speaking of the workaday blues, did you hear this story about the guy who had his buddy shoot him in the shoulder so he could get out of going into work? Apparently he was trying to dodge a drug test and buy himself a few vacation days. A creative, if impaired, attempt at playing hookie. One has to admire that kind of brazen asininity. Though something tells me his bosses didn't.
Years ago I faked a urinary tract infection to get the day off and that seemed to work nicely. I repeated this ruse a couple of years later while working for a temp agency. Although that second time I realize my little fabrication probably ran under the category of too much information. (Especially since I was working on a day to day basis and could have simply told them no. Or, better still, not have picked up the phone.) I've always been a terrible liar.
In other disturbing news, a 27 year old Minnesota man punched a 59 year old woman in the face while waiting for the bus on his way to anger management class. For reals. When a 63 year old man tried to intervene, he whacked him with a blue folder before fleeing the scene. The folder was left behind and eventually led police to the ireful puncher in question. Tucked neatly inside of this blue folder? His anger management homework, naturally. Just bizarre.
Happy Monday, Dearies. Please try not to punch anyone on your way into work this morning. xoxo

I had a dream about Prince this morning!
How strange............not really I guess.
